About Us
Optical Tools Corporation specializes in manufacturing innovative, easy-to-use and cost-effective optical devices for scientists and OEM product developers.
Our current mission is two-fold:
- to deliver value-added Electro-optical device solutions to the Biomedical and related communities, including LED light sources;
- to leverage technologies related to advancement in the general solid-state lighting markets, and apply them to scientific instrument applications.

Stephen M. Tobin is the founder and President of Optical Tools Corporation. He has been involved in the development of electro-optical instrumentation for over 20 years. Mr. Tobin received his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Electro-Optics from Tufts University in 1994, and his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire in 1983. He has held positions in project engineering with divisions of Allied-Signal, Dresser Industries, and High Voltage Engineering. More recently, he spent six years as a Technical Staff Member of Arthur D. Little Inc. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society.
